A guided brainwave technology that combines sound and light to promote relaxation, improve focus, and support emotional and mental well-being.
01
What is this service?

BrainTap is a non-invasive therapy that uses a combination of guided meditation, binaural beats, isochronic tones, and gentle light pulses to help balance brainwave activity. Worn like a headset, it guides your brain into deep states of relaxation and focus—ideal for reducing stress, improving mental clarity, and supporting emotional regulation.

02
Why do we use it?

Chronic stress, anxiety, and emotional overload can keep the brain stuck in overdrive. BrainTap helps "reset" your nervous system by encouraging healthy brainwave patterns. It’s a gentle yet powerful way to support mindfulness, reduce rumination, and help you feel more mentally clear and emotionally grounded.

03
How does it help with mental healthcare?

BrainTap enhances mental health therapy by calming the mind and improving your ability to engage in self-reflection and emotional processing. It can reduce anxiety, lift mood, and boost mental focus—creating a more receptive state for deeper therapeutic work and long-term healing.

Frequently Asked

BrainTap, explained

What is BrainTap?

BrainTap is a 20-minute guided audio-visual session that combines binaural beats, isochronic tones, guided visualization, and pulsed light therapy delivered through a comfortable headset and visor. Protocols guide your brainwave state into deep relaxation, restorative rest, or focused alertness depending on what you need.

What does a session feel like?

Most people describe it as a guided meditation that’s much easier to drop into than self-directed practice. About 5-10 minutes in, breathing slows and mental chatter quiets. Sessions end with you alert but settled — many describe it as ’an hour of sleep in 20 minutes’ for the recovery feeling without grogginess.

What does BrainTap help with?

Most commonly: anxiety, sleep difficulty, focus and attention, stress recovery, and trauma symptoms. The light/sound entrainment works on patients who struggle with traditional meditation. We use it for early-sobriety patients, insomnia patients, trauma processing transitions, and as a daily reset for clients with high stress baselines.

Is BrainTap science-based?

The underlying mechanisms — binaural beat entrainment, isochronic tones, light flicker rate effects on EEG — have been studied for decades with peer-reviewed support. We position BrainTap as an effective adjunct, not a primary treatment. The integrated programming at RECO Immersive doesn’t depend on BrainTap alone.

How is it integrated into RECO Immersive treatment?

Sessions are scheduled into the daily program — typically morning or mid-afternoon as a transition between intensive therapeutic work. Specific protocols are paired with treatment goals: pre-trauma-session protocols for grounding, sleep-prep protocols at night, focus protocols for cognitive work.
