What is this service?

The Initial Evaluation and Consultation is your first step on the road to recovery. It involves a one-on-one meeting where we learn about your history, mental health, substance use patterns, and personal needs. This isn’t just about filling out forms; it’s about getting to know you as a person so we can design the most effective treatment plan.

02
Why do we use it?

No two recovery journeys are the same. By taking the time to understand your unique situation, we can create a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific challenges. This customized approach helps us build a foundation of trust and ensures that you receive the right level of care from day one.

03
How does it help with mental healthcare?

By gaining a deep understanding of your mental health history, emotional patterns, and current challenges, we can create a therapy plan that truly fits your needs. This personalized approach helps uncover underlying issues, reduce emotional distress, and guide you toward healthier coping strategies—laying the groundwork for meaningful, long-term healing.

The initial evaluation, explained

What happens in the first conversation with our admissions team.

The initial evaluation is a structured first conversation between you (or a family member or referring provider) and our clinical admissions team. It's typically 45-60 minutes by phone or video. We cover what's bringing you to consider treatment, current symptoms and history, prior treatment experience, medication, substance use if relevant, insurance and logistics, and what you're hoping treatment will accomplish. The conversation is confidential and free of charge.

A clinical admissions counselor — a master's-level mental health professional or experienced addiction specialist — leads the conversation. For complex cases or specialized treatment needs, our medical director or a member of the clinical leadership team participates. The admissions counselor stays as your point of contact through the admission process and into your first week of treatment, so you have continuity from the first phone call to clinical handoff.

Not at all. The initial evaluation exists to help you decide whether RECO Immersive is the right fit and whether residential treatment is the right level of care. If we're not the right fit — wrong level of care, wrong specialization, insurance not aligned, or simply a sense that another program would serve you better — we say so directly and refer to alternatives. Our incentive is matching, not enrolling at all costs.

When timing matters, we can typically admit within 24-72 hours of the initial conversation — including insurance verification, clinical preauthorization, and travel coordination for clients flying in from out of state. Some situations (acute medical detox first, complex psychiatric considerations, scheduled life events the client needs to handle) require longer planning. Urgency is treated case-by-case; safety is the priority.

Yes. Every initial evaluation is HIPAA-protected regardless of whether the call leads to admission. Your insurance is not contacted unless you authorize it. No information is shared with employers, family, or anyone else without your written consent. If you decide RECO Immersive isn't right and want a referral elsewhere, we make warm introductions to other programs without sharing your details unless you ask us to.
